Genio Notes, which was previously known as Glean, is a Cloud-based audio and notetaking support tool which can be accessed via your internet browser or the Glean app downloaded onto a smart device.
You can use it to record your in-person lecture notes or any online screen audio, upload lecture slides or visual material, and convert your audio recordings into a written transcript (including Te Reo Māori). You can also use the Outline AI-feature to summarise your notes, or the Quiz Me AI-feature to review your transcript and create a short quiz to test your knowledge.
1. Contact your nearest Student Success team to discuss the support options available to you and request for a Genio Notes subscription:
Note. If eligible for the UCOL Genio Notes subscription, a campus administrator will email a sign-up invite to your student email address.
2. Check your UCOL student mailbox and open the Genio Notes sign-up invite email. Follow the prompts to create a new account and password.
3. Once completed, you will be able to access Genio via your preferred internet browser and/or download the Genio app onto a compatible smart device to use on-the-go (e.g. phone, tablet, iPad).
4. A pop-up notification will appear when you first log in, providing you with a step-by-step tutorial on how to navigate the Genio Notes. To learn more about Genio Notes and its key functions, check out the Genio Skills Portal for additional video tutorials.
