Grammarly is a digital writing assistance tool that automatically detects grammar, spelling, punctuation, word choice, tone and style mistakes in writing. It can work across Windows/Apple, Google Chrome and Microsoft Outlook.
Grammarly offers a free version, but current UCOL students can apply for a licence to the premium version through Disability Services. This version has increased detection and offers support through additional features such as a Plagiarism detector. The generative AI features are not available for UCOL students.
1. Contact the Student Success team and request a Grammarly Premium account. If eligible, an invite to a pre-paid premium subscription will be emailed to your UCOL student email address (for example: 1234567@studentmail.ucol.ac.nz)
2. Check your student mailbox to open your invite and follow the prompts to set-up your account.
3. Once you have successfully activated your Grammarly Premium account, you can now download and install the various versions of Grammarly by clicking the "Apps" tile on the left sidebar.
