Mathematics: Find an unknown side length

FIND AN UNKNOWN SIDE LENGTH

In this module, you can study how to use trig ratios (sine, cosine and tangent) to find an unknown side length in a right triangle.

Did you know?

To find the unknown side length, you have to use sine, cosine or tangent.

The buttons on your calculator are:  sin   cos    tan

'TOA' example from the second video:

  • Unknown Opposite side of a triangle
  • Adjacent side of 40m
  • Angle of 24

On a calculator, type:   40    X     tan     ( 24 )     =

The answer you should get is:  17.8 m
