Rules

Positive x positive = positive answer        e.g.  5  x 4  = 20

Positive x negative = negative answer     e.g.  5 x -4  = -20

Negative x negative = positive answer    e.g. -5 x -4 = 20

 

Be careful with using a basic calculator for these types of questions.  

Ideally, use a calculator that has brackets and enter the equations like this:

(-5)  x  (-4)  =
